Every child deserves to be the best they can be

We are excited to announce the first-ever #EMATters Enrichment Week taking place 12th to 16th October in all East Midlands Academy Trust schools.
This is the first time EMAT has brought together all of our schools for a dedicated week of enrichment, and we have worked closely with PGL to create an exciting programme of experiences and learning designed to inspire, challenge and support our pupils.
Each school will have its own personalised timetable of activities, reflecting the needs and interests of its pupils and throughout the week pupils will take part in a wide range of sessions, workshops, activities and challenges in school covering themes including mental health, building confidence and resilience, public speaking, physical activity, film and much more.
We are delighted to be working with a range of partners including Bounce Forward, LoudSpeaker, Commander Joe’s, IntoFilm and Delight, who will bring specialist knowledge and exciting experiences into our schools.
Alongside our in-school programme, Year 5 and Year 8 pupils also have the opportunity to take part in a three-day PGL residential, The Big Adventure, giving them the chance to develop their independence, confidence, resilience and teamwork in a new environment. Plus each day Year 6 pupils from across the schools will enjoy an English Heritage visit to Bolsover Castle.
Enrichment Week will also include a research and evaluation element to help understand the difference these experiences make for pupils and young people, and to support future enrichment opportunities.
#EMATters Enrichment Week is part of our wider #EMATters Enrichment Programme which aims to ensure that every child across our schools has access to a broad range of exciting experiences and opportunities alongside their day-to-day learning. The full programme includes our annual #EMATters Voices choir concert, the EMAT Olympics as well as the Big Sleep In, the Big Sleep Out and the Big Camp Out.
We hope everyone has an amazing week of learning, discovery, challenge and adventure! School is about much more than just what happens in the classroom and giving children opportunities to discover new interests, challenge themselves, develop life skills and create memories, is an important part of helping every child to be the best they can be.
