Teacher of Science ay PWS - part-time

Contract type: Part-time, 3 days a week

Deadline for applications: 24 November 2020

Start date: 12 April 2021, or sooner if possible

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic teacher to work within our dedicated team of Science teachers 3 days a week: Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.  The successful candidate must be able to teach general science to Key Stage 3 and one or more of Biology, Chemistry or Physics up to GCSE.  There may be the opportunity to teach up to A level if desired.

Prince William School is located in Oundle, within easy commuting distance of Peterborough, Stamford, Kettering, Huntingdon, Wellingborough, and Corby.  It is a vibrant and friendly school that strives to deliver the challenging and inspirational curriculum our students need to prepare them for the ever-changing world of work. We have high expectations for all, and our aim is simple: to be the best school in Northamptonshire and beyond for every student, no matter what their ability or aspirations.

The Science department is housed in a beautiful new building of 14 bespoke laboratories and is staffed by a team of energetic, dedicated and resourceful professionals who are very supportive of each other.  Our students are well behaved, happy, engaging, and inquisitive individuals, who are proud to be Prince William students.  We are passionate about providing them with the best possible education and they have high aspirations for themselves and look to us to guide them on their journey to adult life.

The school is keen to support staff to develop both personally and professionally, and the successful candidate will be given training opportunities to suit their needs and career aspirations.  If an NQT is appointed, they will benefit from the support of a mentor who is a Science teacher, as well as the supervision of a member of the Extended Leadership Team.

This is an exciting time for the school as examination results have seen rapid improvement and the school is expanding.  In 2019, 72% of our KS4 cohort achieved grade 4+ in both English and Maths, and 52% achieved grade 5+ in both English and Maths.  The school’s Progress 8 score was +0.26, and the gap between disadvantaged and other students closed significantly for the second successive year, with the Progress 8 score for Free School Meals Ever 6 students being +0.04.  In KS5, we achieved 56% A* - B and 79% A* - C, an average grade of B- and a positive progress measure.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and inspiring teacher who is committed to delivering high-quality lessons for students of all abilities. In return, the school offers a supportive Senior Leadership Team, a committed and caring department, good CPD and career development opportunities, and students with good attitudes to learning.  There is also an onsite nursery run by a private company.
